For Chong Cheng Yuan, Founder of 5 Senses Bistro, the idea behind the business is straightforward:
Create affordable comfort food using fresh ingredients, while giving its chefs room to express their individuality through every dish.
The 5 Senses Bistro concept goes beyond taste alone. Its name reflects an intention for food to leave an impression across the senses, from how a dish looks to its aroma and, ultimately, how it is experienced at the table.

The person behind the business
Three years ago, while many businesses in the F&B industry were closing their doors, Chong Cheng Yuan made an unexpected move — he opened a bistro.
Coming from an engineering background, CY had not originally set out to build a career in food and beverage. When an opportunity presented itself, however, he decided to take the leap into an entirely different industry.
It was a decision that surprised those around him. Some even thought he was crazy to enter F&B at such a challenging time.
But CY saw an opportunity worth pursuing.
Today, as the Founder of 5 Senses Bistro, his approach remains practical and straightforward. For him, two things matter when creating a dining experience: cost and taste. Good food should be enjoyable without placing an unnecessary burden on customers’ wallets.
What makes the hard work worthwhile is seeing customers enjoy their meals. Their happiness, along with the reviews and feedback they share, gives him a sense of satisfaction and motivation to keep going.
CY describes himself simply as a workaholic — a reflection of the energy and commitment he brings to running his business.
